A VIRTUAL GLIMPSE:

"COPING MECHANISMS" EXHIBITION

Jan. 2021
(currently unistalled)

Tin Roof Bakery - Chico, CA

Virtual Show Bio

About the Show

Ellen's latest series, Coping Mechanisms was installed at Tin Roof Bakery in Chico, CA from January 4-31, 2021. Every piece in this exhibition depicts one of the many ways humans cope with the weight of pain and recovery after surviving varying levels of abuse, assault or exploitation. Real feelings, real stories and real people lie within each work.

To support those that know the true weight of abuse and adversity, 40% of the proceeds from paintings sold in this show were donated to Not For Sale, an organization based in Northern California dedicated to preventing global slavery and exploitation. Although the experiences of their intended survivors may differ from the stories that inspired these paintings, the coping mechanisms remain startlingly similar.
